Post Surgery

Hello Everyone,

It has been one difficult year for me.  After trying to save my thyroid for a year, it was compressing my windpipe so I had surgery to remove it. I am recovering and taking it easy. I am excited to get back into crafting again and am working on some new ideas and videos for the new year.

I also am going to dedicate a page on my blog to my thyroid journey. There are many who are like me struggling with thyroid issues and there isn't a lot of information out there to help. Even doctors are uncertain with regards to the thyroid. It's one of the most under studied organs of the body and yet is responsible for so much.  If you or anyone you know is struggling with thyroid issues, please check back soon to my thyroid protocol page as I update it with my journey to health.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

2 pieces of medium weight black chipboard 12x12 for the covers and the spine

Adhesive: Scor tape in 1/4 inch, 1/8 inch, 1/2 inch. Scotch quick dry glue, glossy accents

Embellishments: Prima and Kaisercraft flowers, prima pearls, Stampin up ribbon, suede for the buckle, Tim Holtz buckle, Tim Holtz ring Fastener, charms, button, twine in black

Ink used was vintage photo

Juice Cleanse Day 3

Hi Everyone

I wanted to review my last day on the cleanse.  By the end of the day I really wanted a burger. :D  The juices tasted really good but I thought I wanted a big burger. So  I went and had one for dinner.  What I noticed was that during the juice cleanse I had mental clarity and tons of energy.  Once I ate that burger, I was tired and felt mentally fuzzy headed.  I realized that juice did more for me once I ate that burger.

The company Pressed Juicery has a subscription service that I went and tried.  I receive my juices tomorrow.  There will be twelve bottles of juices of my choice.  I can order another 12 this month for a total of 24 each month (They have other subscriptions).   I think juicing is the way to go.  I have purchased these to get me started until I can figure out how to juice on my own.

I purchased Joe Cross Reboot recipe books to help me.  The people who have followed his reboot have had tremendous success and based on only three days, I can see why.  My biggest challenge will be giving up the coffee.  From what I read, coffee is very acidic which promotes weight gain. So, its best that I give it up.  To avoid the headache I am going to switch to green tea and detox over this coming weekend.

Well that is all for today.

Thanks for stopping by.

Marion Smith Garment District Mini Album

Hello Everyone

Today, I finished creating a 8 1/2 by 8 1/2 mini album using the Marion Smith Garment District paper and kit that I purchase from Scrapbook Maven.  I really love the way it turned out. I used all the paper in the kit as well as 12x12 Espresso cardstock by Paper Accents and the 8 /12 by 11 Stampin' Up! Espresso cardstock.

On the cover, I used some of the cutouts of the paper line mounted on foam tape and inked with black soot ink by Ranger.  I also incorporated the measuring trim included in the kit as trim on the edges of the felt spine and covers.  I added a Prima spray and used a Tim Holtz buckle for the closure. I added a Maya Roads scissors to the cover as well.

For the spine, I used some Prima peony spray, worn leather and tea stain along with some color me seam binding from Close To My Heart that I had in my stash.  I cut 3 feet of seam binding for each color, sprayed them and let them dry over night.  I then used a grommet from We R Memory Keepers on the spine and tied the ribbon on.  I added a Prima wooden button along with some black hemp twine to create a faux Buttony Bow. I had some metal filigrees that I added to the felt spine.  I found the embossed felt at Hobby Lobby.

For the inside pages, I used black soot for the inked edges.  I used the flowers from the kit as well as some flowers I had in my stash.  The washy tape is from my stash and I have had it for a while so I am not sure who made it.  I thought it went well with the paper line.  I also used some Prima sprays, some metal hangers that came in the kit as swing tabs and another metal scissor from Maya Roads.

On some of the pages, I used some gold glitter trim on the edges to create a sparkly border.  I used some of the wooden embellishments that came in the kit inked with black soot. I also fussy cut some of the images from the paper and added them to various pages in the mini album.

The video shows all the interaction that is built within the album.  I connected with the paper and really became creative with this album  It reminds me of one of the first albums I made that I gave my Mother-in-law and the creative energy I had put into that one.
